Job Description

Within the Center for Partnerships, the Associate Program Officer focusing on Anglican, Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations is responsible for building partnerships and relationships within those networks, organizations and institutions.

Essential responsibilities: Works collaboratively with the Deputy and Associate Deputy for Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations to plan, organize and coordinate the Anglican, ecumenical and interreligious agenda of The Episcopal Church; manages the Office of Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations and responds to various inquiries from heads of churches and religious communities, ecumenical and interreligious bodies, and diocesan requests- this may involve sensitive and confidential communications and so requires confidence and competence; maintains contact with representatives of other Anglican, ecumenical and interreligious organizations to exchange and update information on resources and services available; greets visitors, provides welcome and hospitality for Anglican, ecumenical and interreligious guests; and, performs various administrative responsibilities.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in or related area of work with at least 7 years of experience in field of expertise; a working knowledge of the life and polity of and issues facing the Episcopal Church; group process skills as seen in the ability to work collaboratively with others, including people of diverse cultures and viewpoints; excellent oral and written communications skills that results in effective and persuasive speaking and writing; ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions in order to effectively respond to said challenges; ability to effectively manage competing and conflicting priorities; demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision; and, the ability to use initiative when acting on behalf of the unit. Preferred: A Masters degree in related field of work; 5 to 7 years of experience in the coordination and implementation of programs and projects.

Work Environment

This position is based at The Episcopal Church Center in New York and extensive travel is not required.
