The Gospel stories of Jesus’ healing ministry represent the affirmation of God’s love for all of creation. Join us for a day of close Bible reading and thoughtful reflection, which we trust will bring new insights on Jesus’ healings so that we may experience these stories as illuminators of the Baptismal Covenant and as a blueprint for empowering our ministries.
At Baptism: We are called to serve Christ in all persons, as Jesus healed those whose diseases caused them to be social outcasts.
¨ We are called to believe and proclaim the Good News of Christ-the Risen One, as Jesus raised the dead to foreshadow his own resurrection.
¨ We are called at baptism to renounce evil forces in the world & to persist in resisting evil, as Jesus resisted temptation and the presence of evil in those he healed.
- We are called, with God’s help, to overcome our own weaknesses, and to use our skills to strive for peace and justice, as Jesus restored those in need, calling them into the community of believers.
