Prospective students are invited to attend Episcopal Divinity School’s Visiting Days on Thursday, November 12, 2009 and March 18, 2010. Visiting Days are designed for prospective students to explore the EDS curriculum, meet the faculty, and experience the daily life and worship within the EDS Community.
"Visiting Day allowed me to witness the alignment between what I read and heard about EDS and what I was seeking. I found a dynamic, engaging, and challenging learning environment grounded in spirituality, faith, and community,” said Charles Wynder, Jr., class of 2012, from the diocese of Washington. “The opportunity to hear diverse perspectives from faculty, staff, and students reinforced my desire to pursue rigorous study to assist me in my discernment and formation. Visiting Day provides you with an opportunity to observe, question, and experience the vibrant community of EDS. It brought conversations, visits to the web page, and brochures to life, and inspired me to continue my journey at EDS.”
Visiting Days are intended to provide individuals who are considering a seminary education with an introduction to the EDS campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The informational day will include a campus tour, presentations by faculty and students, Community Eucharist, and the opportunity to observe a class. Admissions interviews can also be scheduled during the visit for those who are considering applying to EDS.
“EDS provides many ways for people to get to know us, from the web, to phone calls, to campus tours, printed materials, and our Visiting Days,” says Director of Admissions Chris Medeiros. “Visiting Days provide prospective students with the opportunity to not only tour our campus, but gives them the opportunity meet and talk with faculty, students, and staff in both formal and informal settings.” Medeiros continues, “Inquirers tell me that having the opportunity to ask questions of faculty and students, sit in on a class, and experience our worship and community life, as well as just being on this campus, helps them to discover whether they want to join us as part of the EDS community. I strongly encourage those interested in pursuing theological education to visit us either on a formal Visiting Day or calling to set up another time to see the EDS community in action.”
One night of complimentary housing is offered to prospective students, based on availability. Appointments and tours of the campus may also be scheduled through the Admissions Office for other times during the year.
