Protecting the Arctic is more than an issue of stewardship of God�s creation and resources. It is a question of human justice and the fundamental rights of the Gwich�in people.

Since taking an initial stand against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in 1991, the church has worked vigorously with the Gwich�in to protect these sacred grounds.
