Pastoral Care with the Unemployed

After several months of reading almost daily reports of companies planning layoffs, the first week of January 2009 we learned that the job losses in 2008 were the worst since 1945. Behind those statistics, we know that our congregations and communities have a growing number of persons in need of some very specialized pastoral care. In the coming weeks, we will attempt to use these pages to share some of the approaches that seem to be providing healing and help throughout the Church.
